Administration announces late closure of schools in twin cities

ISLAMABAD: The district administrations of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have announced the closure of all government and private educational institutions today.

The formal announcement in this regard was made at a time when educational activities had already started in most of the educational institutions.

According to the administration, the decision to keep educational institutions closed has been taken in view of the current security situation.

Meanwhile, the Private Schools Association has also maintained its decision to keep all private schools closed in view of the current situation.

Citizens and parents have expressed regret over the delayed decision of the administration, saying that due to the sudden announcement, students and parents faced severe difficulties.

Earlier, the Interior Ministry’s letter states that 3G and 4G services will remain suspended in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and 3G and 4G internet services will remain closed from 12 midnight tonight until further orders.

According to the letter, the mobile internet was shut down for security reasons, and arrangements for the suspension of mobile internet services in Islamabad and Rawalpindi should be completed.

The Interior Minister has issued instructions to the PTA, while the Islamabad Commissioner, IG, and RPO Rawalpindi have also been informed.
