KARACHI: An Airblue flight from Karachi to Islamabad was delayed for several hours on Monday after the pilot refused to take off when it was discovered that two additional passengers had boarded without authorization.

According to sources, the Airbus aircraft was already taxiing towards the runway when the captain noticed that the total number of passengers exceeded the approved passenger manifest.

The captain immediately returned the aircraft to the boarding bridge and ordered the offloading of the two extra passengers.

The flight, scheduled to depart at 5:00 pm, remained grounded, causing inconvenience to more than 170 passengers on board.

Airport management confirmed that both extra passengers were associated with the airline and had been boarded by Airblue staff without proper clearance.

The Pakistan Airports Authority has taken notice of the incident and ordered a formal inquiry, stating that the matter involves a serious violation of aviation safety and boarding procedures. Strict disciplinary action is expected against those responsible.
