MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution regarding the 12 seats reserved for refugees residing in Pakistan.
The resolution was jointly presented by five ministers, including Law Minister Mian Waheed, and received unanimous support from members of the House.
According to the text of the resolution, the Assembly paid tribute to the sacrifices made by refugees for the Kashmir freedom movement and acknowledged their longstanding role in the political and constitutional framework of Azad Kashmir.
The resolution stated that the representation of refugees residing in Pakistan is a historical and constitutional reality that must be respected. It further emphasized that constitutional reforms fall exclusively within the authority and mandate of the elected representatives of the people.
The House maintained that any discussion or decision regarding constitutional reforms should be left to the Legislative Assembly, reaffirming its constitutional role in addressing such matters.
Following the passage of the resolution, the session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was adjourned indefinitely.
