Aviation Safety Agency issues alert amid rising tensions in Middle East

ISLAMABAD: The Aviation Safety Agency has warned airlines that flights over the airspace of Gulf countries are facing exceptional risks due to the tense security situation in the Middle East.

The advisory issued by the agency has directed airlines to avoid using the airspace of Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates until July 29, in addition to recommending that flights over the Gulf of Oman not be operated.

According to the Aviation Safety Agency, civil aviation in the airspace of the region is facing increased risks due to the current security situation.

The advisory states that the safety of passenger and cargo flights may be affected at any time due to unexpected military developments, missile attacks, drones, warplanes and possible use of air defense systems.

The agency has urged all airlines to continuously monitor the situation, re-assess the risks and take alternative air routes to ensure the safety of passengers.

It should be noted that during the US-Iran war, flights to the Middle East from all over the world were affected, and many flights were canceled due to the tension.
