ANKARA: Field Marshal Asim Munir held an important meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara, where Pak-Turkish defense cooperation, cooperation in the defense industry, regional security, and the latest situation in the Middle East were discussed.
According to the Turkish Presidency, the meeting took place at the Ankara Airport, where President Erdogan met Field Marshal Asim Munir before leaving for an official visit to Qatar.
The meeting was held in a closed room and was also attended by Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz, Chief of General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktarovlu and National Intelligence Organization (MİT) Chief Ibrahim Kalin.
Official sources did not release internal details of the meeting; however, according to diplomatic and defense circles, the two leaders discussed issues related to Pak-Turkish defense cooperation, cooperation in the defense industry, regional security, the latest situation in the Middle East, and further expanding the strategic partnership between the two countries.
This meeting has taken place at a time when defense relations between Pakistan and Turkey are continuously strengthening. The two countries continue to cooperate closely in several areas, including joint military exercises, defense production, drone technology, naval projects, and military training.
A day earlier, Field Marshal Asim Munir met with Turkish Chief of General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktarovlu, where he was also awarded the highest military honor of the Turkish Armed Forces.
On this occasion, the commitment to further promote military ties, defense cooperation, and professional collaboration between the two countries was reaffirmed.
According to observers, the meeting between President Erdogan and Field Marshal Asim Munir is a sign that Islamabad and Ankara are giving joint priority to further strengthening their long-standing brotherly relations, as well as promoting peace, stability, and defense cooperation in the region.
