ISLAMABAD: Aleema Khan, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has said that the former prime minister’s children will come to Pakistan to meet their father.

Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Aleema Khan said that her sisters Noreen Niazi and Uzma Khan were not allowed to meet Imran Khan today. She added, “Earlier, six people were allowed to meet, then it was restricted to two sisters, and now all meetings with the sisters have been stopped.”

Aleema confirmed that Bushra Bibi, accompanied by lawyer Zaheer Abbas Chaudhry, met Imran Khan today. She alleged that court orders were being blatantly violated.

She said, referring to Imran Khan, that first the PTI’s election symbol was taken away, then the reserved seats, and now he only wants to appear in court. He also said that Pakistan’s economic situation has never been worse, and he described the current ruling coalition as a “group of corrupt fools”, comparing it to a similar coalition in Nigeria. He accused the elite in Pakistan of looting the country’s resources.

Imran Khan reportedly said that the current coalition has destroyed the economy and the people must now rise up. He said that people are being punished on the basis of false testimonies, and now all eyes are on how the judges in Lahore will decide on such fabricated evidence.

Aleema Khan further revealed that Imran Khan has called for a movement to uphold the rule of law and has directed the party to unite and focus on this campaign, as all other avenues have been closed.

He added that the party will decide the strategy of the movement, and confirmed that Imran Khan’s children, who have NICOP (National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis), will come to Pakistan to meet their father.

Aleema also claimed that Imran Khan is being kept in complete solitary confinement, and accused the jail superintendent of lying. She said that Imran Khan mentioned both the superintendent and a colonel by name and alleged that they were harassing him.

She concluded by saying that the party will issue its stand on the Senate elections and is unaware of the developments taking place outside the jail.

On this occasion, lawyer Salman Akram Raja also spoke to the media and said that the sentences being handed down in the May 9 cases are extremely worrying. He added that we will go to the Supreme Court and fight our case. He noted that he had not met Zaheer Abbas separately, and said that internal differences in the party are not uncommon.
