Islamabad: Millions of animals were sacrificed in different parts of the world on Eid-ul-Adha 2024, while the number of animals sacrificed in Pakistan is around 68 lakh.

As per the details, estimates shared by the Pakistan Tanners’ Association claim that 6.8 million animals—goats, sheep and cows—were slaughtered during the three-day festival.

Last year the average cost of animals was quite high. However, the price of sacrificial animals and their skins decreased due to low demand.

Qurbani 2024

Animal Number of animals
Cows 2,800,000
Goats 3,300,000
Sheep 400,000
Buffaloes 150,000
Camels 99,000
Total 6,749,000

The sacrifices included 2.9 million cows, 3.3 million goats, and 3.85 million sheep and goats, the PTA said.

Morevoer, 98,000 camels and 165,000 buffaloes were also slaughtered to pay homage to the Sunnat-e-Ibrahimi (A.S).

The sacrifice of animals during Eid-ul-Adha is a sacred tradition in Islam, commemorating the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) to sacrifice his son Prophet Ismail (A.S).

The festival is celebrated by Muslims worldwide, and in Pakistan, it is an occasion marked by religious fervor, family gatherings, and charitable acts.
