ISLAMABAD: A shocking incident occurred on Friday in Islamabad’s upscale F-8 Sector, where two armed motorcyclists robbed four Chinese nationals at gunpoint and sped away with five mobile phones and Rs. 3,000 in cash.
The robbery was reportedly committed within the Margalla police station limits and, after committing the crime, the suspects fled from the scene.
Fortunately, authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to apprehend the culprits.
This case calls for enhanced security within the metropolis, especially in such places that have foreigners on a regular basis. So far this year, under the supervision of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, Islamabad Police has achieved immense success.
As per operations wing, during this time, 24,387 people were caught and stolen cash and ornaments worth Rs. 2.38 billion have been recovered. One of the key achievements of the police was the arrest of 4,038 suspects involved in property crimes, which led to the recovery of stolen goods valued at Rs. 1.75 billion.
Additionally, the police dismantled 657 criminal gangs, resulting in the recovery of 429 vehicles and 763 motorcycles. Illegal arms possession was another area where the police were very active; they rounded up 1,980 suspects and seized a vast stock of arms and ammunition that included 148 Kalashnikovs, 43 guns, and 1,674 pistols along with more than 18,800 rounds of ammunition.
The Islamabad Police further performed well in anti-narcotics operations; 1,811 drug traffickers were taken into custody, among them 45 persons targeting educational institutions.
The authorities confiscated a huge amount of narcotics, which comprises 417 kg of hashish, 533 kg of heroin, 24 kg of crystal meth, and 458 narcotic tablets. The police also confiscated 18,931 liters of liquor, which shows their intent to reduce the supply of illicit substances in the city.
Overall, Islamabad Police have had a good year, and their efforts to reduce crime and improve public safety are commendable. Under the command of IGP Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the police are very busy in maintaining peace and order in the capital city, and what they have achieved so far is a proof of hard work and dedication.
