KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori on Sunday announced that a grand fireworks display would take place at the Governor House in Karachi on New Year’s Eve.
Tessori said that all five gates of the Governor House would be open for the people to celebrate the New Year celebrations.
The grand event will feature the country’s biggest, 40-minute fireworks show, he added.
Expressing his wishes for 2025, Tessori prayed that the New Year would bring peace, security, stability, economic growth, and welfare to the people of Pakistan.
Earlier, the Karachi Commissioner imposed Section 144 in the port city for two days, banning ariel firing, carrying or displaying weapons, and the use of firecrackers on New Year’s Eve.
Karachi Commissioner Syed Hasan Naqvi issued a notification in this regard.
Section 144 will remain enforced on December 31 (Tuesday) and January 1 (Wednesday) and strict action will be taken against the violators, the notification added.
This year, Governor Tessori announced a similar event to celebrate Independence Day. The event included massive fireworks, performances by famous artists, and a special appearance by Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem.
