Army Lieutenant embraces martyrdom during firefight in Tirah

PESHAWAR: Lieutenant Uzair Mehmood Malik, from district Attock in Punjab, died from injuries sustained during a firefight with militants in the Tirah Valley on August 9, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

On Friday, a firefight occurred between security forces and Khawarij at three different locations in Tirah Valley, Khyber District. In one of the encounters in Bagh, Lieutenant Malik led his troops with bravery, killing four Khawarij fighters.

During the intense exchange of fire, the officer sustained critical injuries and was treated at CMH Peshawar. He succumbed to his injuries today.

The ISPR confirmed that Lieutenant Malik was leading his team against militants in the Tirah Valley when he was critically wounded. The operation resulted in the deaths of four terrorists.

He was transported to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Peshawar.

The ISPR conveyed profound sorrow over Lieutenant Malik’s loss, praising his bravery and commitment to duty.
