Quetta: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) rejected the bail plea of Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leader Dr.Mahrang Baloch and other activists on Tuesday.
The verdict was announced by a bench led by Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmed Swati and Justice Muhammad Amir Nawaz Raja.
The Court disposed of the petition filed, asking the petitioner to approach the relevant forum.
The petition was filed by Mahrang Baloch’s sister Nadia Baloch, the BYC leader, and other activists were booked under MPO.
Earlier, the Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Thursday reserved its verdict on a petition seeking the release of Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) chief organiser Dr Mahrang Baloch and other BYC activists.
Senior lawyers Kamran Murtaza, Ali Ahmed Kurd, Rehab Buledi, Khalid Kabdani, and Sajid Tareen represented the petitioner.
They contended that the arrests of Dr Mahrang and other BYC members were illegal and maliciously carried out. They urged the court to declare the arrests illegal and issue orders for their release.
In March, Police filed an FIR against Dr Mahrang Baloch, chief organizer of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), and 150 others on grounds of forcibly removing bodies from a morgue, inciting violence, and other alleged offenses.
The case revolves around an incident at Civil Hospital Quetta, where BYC members reportedly invaded the morgue and stole the remains of five militants killed in an operation against train hijackers.
The FIR, filed on March 22 at Sariab Police Station, contains accusations under several provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and the Pakistan Penal Code.
