Blast near police van in Quetta kills 3, injures 21

QUETTA: A blast occurred near a police van on Quetta’s double road, killing three people and injuring 21 others, including police officers.

The condition of four of the injured is critical.

The injured have been shifted to the Civil Hospital for medical treatment. The blast damaged a police vehicle. According to police reports, the explosives were planted in a motorcycle and detonated as it approached the police van.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have strongly condemned the incident of firing on passengers in the Kalmat area of ​​Balochistan. Expressing deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives, the President and the Prime Minister expressed their condolences to the families of the victims.

The President said that terrorists are enemies of the country’s development and the prosperity of the province, they do not want to see Balochistan develop. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and fortitude for the bereaved families.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also strongly condemned the attack and expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of precious lives. He expressed his condolences to the affected families and directed the authorities to provide the best medical assistance to the injured.

The Prime Minister, while ordering a thorough investigation into the incident, stressed that those responsible should be brought to justice. He further said that anti-state elements are enemies of peace and development of Balochistan, expressing his resolve that such cowardly attacks will never succeed in their nefarious intentions.
