ISLAMABAD: Due to the present security situation, Cambridge International Education (CIE) and the British Council have cancelled all tests scheduled for Friday, May 9, in Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, the Islamabad Capital Territory, and Punjab province.
The ruling impacts students at Cambridge Direct and British Council schools who take O Level, IGCSE, and International AS & A Level examinations.
“This only applies to exams on Friday 9 May,” they stated, adding that they will “update schools by the evening of Sunday 11 May” regarding tests scheduled for Monday.
Officials continue to expect examinations in other regions of Pakistan on May 9 to go place “if the security situation remains unchanged,” but any new changes will be communicated.
In a joint statement, both educational institutions stated that their “priority is to support the safety of students and staff, as well as to help students progress with their education.”
Their statement continued: “Where exams are cancelled, we use our expertise and well-established processes to make sure we can award fair grades so that students can progress.”
Students are advised to solely follow the official Cambridge and British Council Pakistan pages for updates. Private applicants can contact British Council Customer Services, whilst school pupils should contact their respective institutions directly.
