ISLAMABAD: The Medical Tribunal, which hears complaints related to the medical sector, has been dysfunctional for the last three months as the members of the medical board could not be appointed.
Chairman Medical Tribunal was appointed three months ago, but the failure to appoint medical board members has left hundreds of medical cases pending.
Due to its dysfunction, more than 80 cases related to doctors, medical colleges, PM&DC are pending, Registrar Tribunal said.
The medical tribunal consists of a Chairman who has been a judge of a High Court and four members appointed by the Prime Minister of Pakistan upon nomination by the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
Under the Act, all cases related to the health sector are heard in the medical tribunal. The medical tribunal is authorized to hear cases related to doctors, nurses, medical colleges, and hospitals.
A petition can be filed against any doctor, nursing staff, or any medical institution in the tribunal.
