BADIN: In a recent development, a 12-year-old girl bravery and courage saved her from a potential sexual assault in a small village of Badin.
According to the details, the girl from Goth Haji Urs Soomro was working in fields near Deh Rait( local area of Sindh) when the man forcibly dragged her to a sugar-cane farm nearby, torning her clothes off and trying to rape her.
However, the girl yelled for assistance and alerted farmers working in nearby fields, who rushed to her aid. Eyewitnesses identified the suspected assaulter as local landlord Haider Lanjar, who made his escape after leaving the girl.
The girl’s father Allah Dino Soomro lodged a case against Lanjar with Model police station for attempted rape. SHO Anwar Leghari assured that the accused would soon be arrested.
In another incident, a woman attempted to commit suicide but was rescued by local people when she jumped into a wastewater pond near Matiari.
Reports indicate that the woman from Baqal Pota area jumped into the pond in apparent suicide.
However, local people pulled her out of the pond; she was unconscious. Police were informed, and, on their arrival, the woman was taken to hospital. According to police, the woman’s identity was still unknown.
