ISLAMABAD: Images of the suspect responsible for the murder of 17-year-old TikToker Sana Yousuf in Islamabad have surfaced on social media.
The culprit is Omar Hayat, who goes by the name “Kaka” on TikTok and promotes himself as a “tough guy” gangster.
Islamabad police arrested Omar Hayat just 20 hours after the incident, tracing his location and arresting him in Faisalabad after he fled Islamabad. Investigators credit CCTV footage and advanced technology for his swift arrest. “Kaka” confessed to the crime during interrogation and claimed to be a friend of the victim.
Islamabad Police Chief Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi confirmed that 17-year-old Sana Yousuf was shot dead after Omar Hayat repeatedly rejected his advances. According to the inspector general, the killing was carried out due to a series of rejections. The accused tried to contact Sana several times, including several attempts to contact her on May 29, her birthday, and even at her home.
IG Rizvi said, “The suspect was angry at being ignored. He refused to talk to her or accept her suggestions.” Sana was killed by two bullets at around 5pm on June 2. The murder weapon and her iPhone were recovered from her uncle’s possession.
Sana Yousaf was a prominent social media personality, with over 800,000 followers on TikTok and nearly 500,000 on Instagram. Her content included lip-sync videos in Urdu, Hindi and Pashto. Her last posts, shared hours before her death, showed her celebrating her birthday with friends at a local restaurant in Islamabad.
