ISLAMABAD: A case has been filed against a man accused of sexually harassing the daughter of a high-profile individual at the Islamabad Club.
The incident reportedly occurred on August 3 at this exclusive venue, frequented by senior bureaucrats and other prominent figures.
The suspect, Wasim Kareem, was reportedly at the Islamabad Club as a guest of Raja Masood when he allegedly made inappropriate advances towards the 18-year-old girl in the club’s family hall.
The alleged perpetrator is a prominent and influential figure, with reports suggesting that at least four federal secretaries are attempting to protect him from legal repercussions. Wasim Kareem is believed to be an employee of a private mobile phone company.
Additionally, the Director General of a civilian agency is reportedly backing the senior officer involved, whose daughter is the alleged victim.
The victim’s mother reported that while she was dining with her family, Kareem made inappropriate physical and verbal advances toward her daughter, who promptly informed the club staff about the incident.
According to the First Information Report, filed following the family’s complaint, the incident caused significant mental trauma to the victim.
The staff identified Kareem as a guest of Mr. Masood, a club member. According to the staff, Kareem left the club shortly after the incident.
Following the registration of the case, the police have begun their investigation. It is not yet clear whether the suspect has been arrested.
