ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has removed Director General (DG) Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) Ahmad Ishaque Jahangir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General (IG) of Police Akhtar Hayat from his post.
A notification issued by the Establishment Division stated that Ahmad Ishaque Jahangir has been officially removed from his position as DG FIA with immediate effect.
The notification further stated that Jahangir has been made an Officer on Special Duty (OSD).
“With the approval of the Federal Government, Mr. Ahmad Ishaque Jehangir, a BS-21 Officer of the Police Service of Pakistan, presently serving as Director General, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), under Interior Division, is transferred and posted as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in Establishment Division, with immediate effect and until further orders,” a notification read.
Meanwhile, the Establishment Division also issued a notification removing Inspector General of Police KP Akhtar Hayat, a BS-21 officer, with immediate effect.
Souces further said that the provincial police chief was sacked due to his failure to maintain law and order in the province over an extended period.
The department appointed Zulfiqar Hameed, a grade 21 officer currently serving under the Punjab government, as the new IG KP with immediate effect.
