Eid Milad un Nabi processions 2024: Rawalpindi police announce traffic plan

RAWALPINDI: City Traffic Police Rawalpindi has issued a special traffic plan for the two main processions of Eid Milad-ul-Nabi to be held in Rawalpindi tomorrow (Tuesday).

More than 5,000 policemen and 454 traffic officials will be deployed to maintain law and order and manage traffic on the occasion of Eid Milad-ul-Nabi.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Beenish Fatima said that the plan involves deputing 454 traffic police officers and wardens, including seven deputy superintendents of police (DSPs), 83 senior traffic wardens, and 364 traffic wardens. All circle and sector in-charges have been directed to personally monitor the flow of traffic and ensure that it remains uninterrupted during the festivities.

CTO Beenish Fatima said that a special contingency plan will be in place for emergency vehicles, including ambulances and fire brigades, to guarantee their timely access in case of emergency.

Apart from traffic management, more than 5 thousand policemen will be on security duty. It consists of more than 450 officers who are specifically assigned the task of monitoring traffic arrangements. The security arrangements will cover 108 processions with 2,400 officers for the main procession and over 2,600 officers to guard the remaining 107 processions.

CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani outlined additional security measures, including the installation of walk-through gates at the procession entrances, full-body searches of participants, and deployment of snipers on rooftops for enhanced security.

Streets and avenues along the procession routes will be sealed and police from all local stations will perform security and patrolling duties in their respective areas. The authorities are determined to use all available resources to ensure foolproof security during Eid Milad-ul-Nabi celebrations.
