ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Asif on Thursday claimed that former Army Chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa had threatened to impose martial law in Pakistan, here on Thursday.

While talking to a private news channel, Asif, talking about Bajwa’s ambitions, said that the former army chief threatened to impose martial law not only in his meeting but also in front of other people.

When asked whether General Bajwa should not be held accountable for this and put on trial, Asif said, “Who dares to pursue this case?”

In 2023, Pakistan People’s Party Co-Chairperson and President Asif Ali Zardari, who was in opposition in Parliament, told a private TV channel that “General Bajwa had threatened that if we did not follow his instructions he will impose martial law. ”

He also said that he wants to remove Imran Khan from the post of Prime Minister through a no-confidence vote while contesting elections instead of Bajwa (of no-confidence vote).

He had said that he did not listen to Bajwa’s advice and moved for a no-confidence vote.
