ISLAMABAD: The Islamic year 1447 Hijri is likely to start on Friday, June 27, since astronomers are of the view that the Muharram moon won’t be visible on Tuesday, June 25.
Astronomical professionals opine that the new moon will be born on June 25 at 3:31 pm Pakistan time. Still, because of poor visibility, particularly in the Middle East and South Asia, it is not likely to be visible with the naked eye that night. Moon sighting possibilities are very high for Wednesday, June 26.
Monday’s weather outlook: hot weather, then thundershowers. This raises the chances that Muharram 1 will occur on Friday, June 27, in Pakistan and most other nations.
If the above schedule is true, Youm-e-Ashura, 10th Muharram, will fall on Sunday, July 6. Pakistan’s Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on June 26 to confirm reports of moon sighting and announce the start of the new Islamic year
