Shandur Polo Festival ends on high note with Chitral’s thrilling win over GB

GILGIT: Shandur Polo Festival 2025 concluded with the Chitral team defeating the Gilgit team by 9 goals to 7 in the final match.

The final match of the Polo Festival 2025 was played between the two teams in the presence of thousands of spectators at the world’s highest polo ground, Shandur. 

The Shandur Polo Festival was held from June 20 to 22 with the cooperation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government, Gilgit Baltistan Government, Pakistan Army, and Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa North.

The special guest of the event on the last day was Corps Commander Peshawar, Lieutenant General Omar Ahmed Bukhari.

The closing ceremony was attended by thousands of spectators, including foreign tourists. As per tradition, the SSG Shahbaz team of the Pak Army demonstrated free-fall jumps, and the team from the Army School of Physical Training, Kakul, also performed a beautiful paragliding demonstration.

In addition, a traditional Kalash dance was also performed, which greatly delighted the audience. The chief guest distributed prizes among the players of the polo teams.

Addressing the ceremony, the chief guest, Corps Commander Peshawar, appreciated the enthusiasm of the foreign and domestic tourists who participated in the festival, which was organised by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority in collaboration with the district administrations of Upper and Lower Chitral and law enforcement agencies.
