ISLAMABAD: A fabricated news card falsely attributed to Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has been circulating on social media, leading to an official clarification from Daily Ausaf.

The viral card, featuring Khawaja Asif’s photograph, claimed that he stated, “Afghanistan should hand over air bases to the United States, otherwise this series will continue.”

However, there is no official record of such a statement, and the defence minister has not issued any remarks of this nature.

According to Daily Ausaf, an original news report published on its website was edited and misused by unknown individuals who created a manipulated headline card for circulation on social media.

The newspaper has categorically distanced itself from the viral post, stating that the image is doctored and does not represent its editorial content.

Daily Ausaf has termed the circulating post fake and clarified that it has no connection to the fabricated graphic. The case underscores concerns over misinformation and the spread of doctored content on social media platforms.
