Faisal Rathore sworn in as 16th PM of Azad Kashmir

MUZAFFARABAD: The swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, was held at the President’s House in Muzaffarabad.

The ceremony was also attended by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto.

The newly elected Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s oath was administered by Speaker Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar.

Important political and social figures attended the swearing-in ceremony, while the President of Azad Kashmir could not administer the oath to the Prime Minister due to illness.

Senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Faryal Talpur, had already reached Muzaffarabad on this important political occasion.

After the successful no-confidence motion against Chaudhry Anwarul Haq yesterday, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore was elected the new Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Faisal Rathore got 36 votes, while only 2 votes were cast against him; the PPP had already claimed the support of 38 members.

After this political development, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq’s term as Prime Minister came to an end, after which his own cabinet members supported the no-confidence motion.

Congratulations from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif

Earlier, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif contacted Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore over the phone and congratulated him on being elected as the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed his best wishes for him and said that the development and prosperity of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir are among the priorities of the federal government.

He said that he is committed to working with the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government for the welfare, economic development, and prosperity of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and peace and security.
