ISLAMABAD: According to the recent notification of the Ministry of Law and Justice, the federal government has approved a significant increase in the salaries and housing allowance of the High Court judges.
Signed by Acting President Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, the notification details significant increases in housing and judicial allowances.
Under the new provisions, the House Rent Allowance for High Court Judges has been increased from Rs. 65,000 to Rs.350,000 Additionally, the High Court Allowance has been seen to rise from Rs. 342,431 to Rs.1,090,000
The notification also directed the High Courts to formulate a comprehensive policy regarding the use of official vehicles. The policy will cover aspects such as fuel, vehicle maintenance, driver, and travel between benches.
After the hike, sources suggest that the total salary of a High Court judge is now likely to cross Rs. 2 million comes after an earlier request by the Islamabad High Court to the Law Ministry, which had sought a review of housing allowances in the federal capital due to rising rental costs in recent years.
