KARACHI: In a recent crackdown to curb illegal activities, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) offloaded three female ‘beggars’ traveling to Saudi Arabia in the disguise of Umrah pilgrims at Karachi airport on Sunday.
According to the FIA spokesperson, the female beggars were arrested by FIA Immigration upon checking at the Karachi airport. During the checking, the FIA team got suspicious when the females did not have return tickets and hotel bookings while traveling to Saudi Arabia for Umrah.
Before this, the authorities claimed that the females were also offloaded at the Lahore airport. The arrested ‘beggars’ were handed over to the FIA Anti-Smuggling Circle for probe.
This crackdown underscores the agency’s commitment to preventing human trafficking and protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation. Similar arrests have been made in other cities, including Lahore, where four alleged beggars, including two women and two men, were arrested by the FIA’s anti-human trafficking cell.
