ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Wing on Thursday decided to initiate an inquiry against PTI Founder Imran Khan for the uploading of a propaganda post on official X account featuring Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

A post on X, formerly Twitter, was attributed to the former prime minister, which said, “Every Pakistani should study the Hamood ur Rahman Commission Report and get to know who was the true traitor, General Yahya Khan or Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”

A notification issued by the FIA Cybercrime Wing said that the inquiry was prompted by the posting of a propaganda video on May 26, purportedly featuring Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, from Khan’s X account.

According to FIA sources, inquiry team is expected to question Imran Khan, Barrister Gohar, Omar Ayub, and Raoof Hasan confirming whether the video was tweeted by Khan himself or with his consent.

Furthermore, FIA sources mentioned that they would investigate who created and propagated the anti-Pakistan content. “If the account holder is responsible, legal action will be taken against him. If not, he will need to submit a written request to close the X account due to its unlawful use,” they said.

However, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan told a local media outlet that the post had nothing to do with Imran Khan as he did not see the text of the posts that were uploaded to his account.

“Imran Khan has nothing to do with this [post] because he did not see its content or other things. [The PTI founder] does not approve each and every video or context.”

“The context and comparison that we drew with 1971 was in a political context and not otherwise — nothing about the army,” the PTI leader said to defend the X post.

The post on PTI supremo’s account drew ire including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who said Imran’s true face was finally in front of the nation.
