SIALKOT: Senior politician and Istehkam Pakistan Party (IPP) leader Firdous Ashiq Awan has tendered her resignation as the Central Information Secretary of Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party.
In a resignation letter to the party President Abdul Aleem Khan, the former federal minister stated that she couldn’t continue working as the party’s spokesperson due to personal commitments and health issues.
“It is hereby stated that I am unable to continue my duties and services as central information secretary of IPP due to my commitments and health issues. Therefore, I am submitting my resignation from the party post as an office bearer,” the letter read.
Awan, however, reaffirmed her support for the party as a member. “However, I will continue my support for the party as a member in the best of public and national interest.”
Firdous Ashiq Awan, hailing from Sialkot, joined the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party before the February 8 general elections after parting ways with the former ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
During the Imran Khan regime, she served as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting from 2019 to 2020.
Awan also served as the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Punjab on Information and Culture from November 2020 to August 2021, during the PTI government.
