ISLAMABAD: The spokesperson of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has provided fresh updates regarding the resumption of flight operations to Dubai.

According to the spokesperson, flight operations will be resumed as soon as the situation improves at Dubai Airport after the record-breaking rain.

Recent torrential rains have wreaked havoc in the UAE, flooding runways and significantly disrupting flight operations at Dubai International Airport over the past three days.

A PIA spokesman has said that 22 flights from Pakistan to Dubai have been canceled since April 16 due to bad weather conditions in Dubai and Sharjah.

Passengers affected by canceled flights are being given priority for re-accommodation on subsequent flights. The spokesman added that additional flights are being arranged to facilitate the repatriation of stranded passengers in Dubai.

On the other hand, Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) Director General Khaqan Murtaza has advised passengers whose flights have been canceled to contact the PIA call center for flight information.

In response to a question, the DG confirmed that the Airport Security Force (ASF) has taken action against an employee at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport for misbehaving with a child.

Regarding Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIAP), the Director General said that efforts have been made to deal with the increasing number of passengers. However, he said the airport has reached its design capacity.

Further, he directed the airport manager of Islamabad International Airport (IIAP) to look into the complaint of alleged extortion in the parking lot, allegedly involving the police or traffic wardens.

Responding to another concern, the DG emphasized the importance of ensuring that the prices of food items at the Islamabad airport are in line with the official price list.
