PESHAWAR: In a tragic event, a fire broke out in the Kochi Bazaar area of Peshawar, resulting in the deaths of four people and injuring three others on Tuesday.
The deceased were initially rescued alive, but while shifting them to the hospital, they succumbed to injuries, and later on, another person also did not survive, according to the Rescue 1122 officials.
Power supply to Kochi Bazaar and adjoining areas was cut off due to the blaze, which was later brought under control.
Two firefighters also fainted during the rescue operation due to smoke and the intensity of heat, while conducting the operation was difficult as the streets were so narrow that they could not carry out the operation effectively.
The rescue operation was completed after a prolonged effort involving six fire vehicles and 40 personnel.
