QUETTA: In a tragic event, at least four Levies personnel have died in an attack by unidentified assailants in Kuzdar district of Balochistan, according to media reports
The terrorist opened fire at the Saman checkpost area of Khuzdar, according to Deputy Commissioner Yasir Iqbal.
The government of Balochistan has condemned the attack, spokesperson of the government Shahid Rind said the attack was “a national tragedy”.
“The cowardly acts of terrorists could not weaken the morale of security forces and the public”, Rind said.
Shahid Rind said that the “Balochistan government stands with the families of martyrs, and the elements involved in the incident would be brought to justice,” he added.
Earlier, At least three Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel were martyred and two others injured in an exchange of fire with militants in Spina Tangi area of Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.
According to a CTD spokesperson, the incident took place during an intelligence-based operation when the personnel came under heavy fire from terrorists hiding in the area.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Benjamin and Constables Inam and Musawar were martyred in the firing. Two other CTD personnel, Wafid Khan and Imran, were injured and shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
The spokesperson added that two militants were killed in the encounter, while others managed to escape, taking their injured comrades with them. Security forces recovered a cache of weapons from the scene, including assault rifles, improvised explosive devices, hand grenades, and ammunition.
