MULTAN: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Multan Zone on Sunday arrested four individuals, including a woman, for their involvement in visa fraud, human smuggling, and corruption.

The suspects identified as Ajmal, Altaf Hussain, Abid Hussain, and Hira Noor were apprehended during separate raids conducted in various areas of Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Multan, and Lodhran.

According to FIA officials, Abid Hussain received Rs800,000 from a citizen under the pretense of arranging overseas employment in Saudi Arabia.

Similarly, Hira Noor extorted over Rs2.9 million from an individual by promising employment opportunities in Europe. Ajmal allegedly charged Rs400,000 for arranging a job in Dubai.

Despite receiving significant amounts, the suspects failed to send the victims abroad and subsequently went into hiding.

In a separate action, Altaf Hussain was arrested on charges of corruption, the FIA spokesperson said.

The suspect, serving as a Line Superintendent in MEPCO was accused of receiving a bribe of Rs100,000 in exchange for converting a temporary electricity connection into a permanent one.

All suspects have now been arrested, and further investigations are underway.
