Gilgit-Baltistan govt unveils Rs148 billion deficit budget for FY 2025-26

GILGIT: The Gilgit-Baltistan government on Monday presented a budget of over Rs 148 billion for the fiscal year 2025-26 in the provincial assembly.

The budget also includes a deficit of Rs 6 billion. The finance document proposes to allocate Rs 88.19 billion for non-development expenses. Rs 37 billion is proposed for the development budget. Rs 11 billion is proposed for federal PSDP projects.

An amount of Rs 4 billion has been proposed for federal PSDP under the Prime Minister’s Program. The non-tax revenue target for the next fiscal year has been set at Rs 7.89 billion. Rs 20 billion has been proposed for wheat subsidy. The finance document proposes a 10 percent increase in the salaries of government employees.
