ISLAMABAD: The government has become active for the approval of the 28th Constitutional Amendment and the next week of May is being declared important.

According to the report, consultations have started on the constitutional amendment. This issue was at the forefront of the recent meeting between the President and the Prime Minister. Speaker National Assembly Dr. Ayaz Sadiq and other personalities were present in this important meeting.

Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq has also had an unusual consultation with parliamentary leaders in this regard and has also been given the task of reaching a consensus in the PML-N and the PPP.

It is also being told that the reservations of the major coalition party, the PPP, remain on the 28th Amendment. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his advisor Rana Sanaullah have become active to remove these reservations.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar is also making efforts in this regard. Along with the decision to make the proposals for Sindh’s development projects part of the budget, a big offer has also been made to the PPP.

Sources also said that last night, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and other leaders held a consultation at the Presidency. In this, the Finance Minister and Finance Secretary briefed on the status of the NFC award and informed about the shares of the federation and the provinces, government expenditure and income.

According to the report, the 28th Constitutional Amendment is proposed to be brought by consensus on May 21 before Eid-ul-Azha. This amendment contains legislative proposals on other important issues including the NFC award, however, the issue of new provinces will not be discussed in the 28th Amendment.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is consulting with ministers and parliamentary leaders in this regard, while instructions have been issued to the members of parliament to stay in the federal capital, Islamabad.
