ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan has formally established the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) as an independent institution, giving it complete authority to investigate and take action against cyber-related offenses throughout the country.

This significant development is meant to address the growing threat of cybercrimes.

The rise in online fraud, harassment, digital blackmail, identity theft, bogus websites, and social media crimes, the FIA’s cybercrime section, which was formerly a wing of the agency, has been promoted to an independent institution.

According to an official statement from the FIA a spokesperson, the newly constituted NCCIA will now be solely responsible for cybercrime prevention, investigation, and enforcement.

The FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing has been formally abolished as a result of this change, and residents should approach the NCCIA with any future cyber-related complaints or questions.

The newly constituted organization is responsible for immediately reacting to any allegations of suspected internet behavior or criminality.

Citizens can contact the NCCIA Helpdesk by calling 051-9106691 or emailing helpdesk@nr3c.gov.pk.

The representative also underlined, “It is crucial to emphasize that the FIA no longer handles cybercrime cases. The public is invited to attend the local NCCIA Circle Office if they have any concerns or need help with cybercrime.

This move is likely to simplify operations and strengthen the country’s ability to tackle digital threats in an increasingly interconnected world.
