Heatwave in Punjab: Govt reduces college timings across province

LAHORE: The government of Punjab has shortened the operating hours of colleges across the province, due to the upcoming severe heatwave, here on Monday.

As per the issued notification, due to a surge in temperature in Punjab, the provincial government notified new timings for public and private colleges, effective from May 21 (Tuesday) to May 31.

All colleges in Punjab from May 21 will operate until 11:30am, and the evening shift in colleges will take place from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.

The provincial government had already shortened school hours to 11:00 AM starting Tuesday, May 21. From Tuesday until May 31.

Additionally, public and semi-government colleges will conduct educational activities from 7:30 AM to 11:30am according to the new schedule.

Earlier today, the Punjab government announced further seven-day holidays for schools due to scorching heat.

Punjab govt announces summer vacations

The Punjab government on May 17 announced the annual summer vacations for public and private schools across the province. The notification had said that vacations would be observed from June 1 to August 14.
