ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has brought relief to wedding hall and marquee owners in the federal capital by restraining the Capital Development Authority (CDA) from taking punitive action against them.

IHC Justice Inam Amin Minhas issued the order while hearing a petition filed by Ghulam Moeen-ul-Haq Gilani.

The court ordered both sides to file para-wise comments in 15 days and heard the case on May 21, 2025. No action will be taken against the parties concerned until the next hearing.

The petition was called in reaction to directives issued by the CDA on August 16, 2023, which the counsel of the petitioner claimed encroached upon their fundamental rights.

Simultaneously, the CDA has been rigorously implementing the Solid Waste Management  Act 2023 to ensure top-class cleanliness and safety standards in the city.

The regulations strictly prohibit dumping any form of waste, such as garbage, construction material, or other things, on streets, green belts, water bodies, or public places within Islamabads boundary.

The CDA has threatened legal action and fines against violators and requested citizens cooperation in maintaining Islamabad as clean, green, and safe.

The authority has also posted helpline numbers (1334 and 9213908) and a WhatsApp number (0335-5001213) for citizens to report any problems.

The Directorate of Solid Waste Management of the CDA has pointed out the role of civic duty in managing environmental pollution and called upon citizens to throw away the garbage and trash only in special bins.
