ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has written a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, saying that the doors of justice are closed for him and his wife Bushra Bibi.
He said that he has been in solitary confinement for 772 days, where a 9×11 room has been turned into a cage for him.
He stated that more than 300 political cases have been filed against him, which is unprecedented in the history of Pakistan.
The letter states that the health of his wife, Bushra Bibi, is deteriorating, but the doctors are not allowed to examine her.
He has been kept in solitary confinement and has also been deprived of access to treatment and books.
The PTI founder took the position that granting bail to female prisoners is part of the law, but Bushra Bibi is not even being given this right.
The letter states he is not allowed to meet his family members and lawyers, and he is being denied the right to talk to his sons, which is his basic right.
He also added that this is not imprisonment but deliberate psychological torture to break the morale of the people.
The letter further alleges that thousands of workers and supporters are still in jails, while Hassan Niazi was detained and tortured by military authorities and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
According to Imran Khan, his sisters and nephews are also facing unjust trials and imprisonment. The letter also states that the judiciary is being used as a weapon to break his political party.
The PTI won the February 8, 2024, elections, but the public mandate was stolen overnight, and the 26th Constitutional Amendment was used to legitimize electoral robbery, he added in the letter.
The letter also states that the Al-Qadir Trust and Tosha Khana cases are not being scheduled for a hearing, while Bushra Bibi and her other cases are also pending.
He said that justice should be served on time, not after 44 years, like in the Zulfikar Ali Bhutto case.
The PTI founder said that the people of Pakistan consider the Supreme Court as the last refuge of justice, and the independence of the judiciary should be restored.
