ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s bail applications were rejected on Wednesday in 8 cases related to the vandalism on May 9.
According to details, the court gave a reserved verdict in connection with the May 9 vandalism. Judge Manzar Ali Gul of the Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) pronounced the verdict.
The ousted prime minister’s bail application was rejected in 8 cases, including attacks on Jinnah House, Askari Tower, Shadman police station.
During the hearing, PTI founder’s lawyer Salman Safdar said that ‘PTI founder has nominated him in the cases on political grounds. PTI founder was arrested during the May 9 violence.
Safdar said: “PTI founder has condemned the May 9 riots. Verdicts have been given in 30 cases against the government. I am presenting about 25 cases before you.
Police officers are plaintiffs in all the cases. He further said that various charges have been made for conspiring.
Safdar said that the PTI founder has been behind bars for one and a half years.
On the other hand, the petitioner’s lawyer said that the bail of the PTI founder should be granted.
The prosecution had opposed the bail of the PTI founder.
The special prosecutor said that the decisions that are presented have nothing to do with these cases.
The prosecutor said, “More than 200 buildings have been attacked on the instructions of the accused.”
The prosecutor said, “Statements about waging real jihad have come on social media.”
