Iranian President accorded Warm Welcome at PM House

ISLAMABAD: Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian arrived at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad today, where he was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the occasion of strengthening bilateral relations between Islamabad and Tehran.

President Pezeshkian was presented a guard of honor by the armed forces upon his arrival. The national anthems of the two countries were played, and the two leaders shook hands warmly, reflecting the long-standing relations between the neighboring countries.

President Pezeshkian inspected the guard of honor as a formal gesture of respect. During the formal reception, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif introduced the members of his cabinet to the visiting dignitary.

The Iranian President also planted a tree at the Prime Minister House, highlighting the shared commitment to environmental sustainability and regional cooperation.

After the reception, the two sides held a high-level meeting to discuss matters of mutual interest. Diplomatic sources said that the talks will focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade, energy, border security and regional connectivity. The talks are expected to culminate in the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs).

The Prime Minister has hosted a luncheon in honor of President Pezeshkian, while he is scheduled to meet President Asif Ali Zardari in the evening. A state dinner is also expected to be hosted by the President of Pakistan.
