Islamabad administration approaches Interpol for Shehzad Akbar’s arrest

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad government has approached Interpol for the arrest of ‘proclaimed offender’ former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s advisor on accountability Shahzad Akbar.

According to the details, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad asked the Interior Ministry for Interpol’s involvement in the arrest of Mirza Shahzad Akbar.

In this regard, Chief Commissioner Islamabad in his letter No. 5/4 2023 to the Ministry of Interior wrote that Mirza Shahzad Akbar son of Mirza Muhammad Akbar is proclaimed offender in FIR No. 156 2023 booked at Secretariat Police Station under 420/468/471/386/389/500/506 of Pakistan Panel Code.

In a letter, the Islamabad administration further told the interior ministry that Shahzad Akbar was hiding abroad to avoid arrest and requested Interpol’s assistance in his arrest for the investigation.

In this regard, the Interior Ministry has issued a red notice for Imran Khan’s aide Shahzad Akbar.to Interpol on the recommendation of the Islamabad district administration of the former advisor to Prime Minister Imran Khan Shahzad Akbar.

It is pertinent to mention that Shahzad Akbar had escaped to Britain for a long time and was not allowing the red notice to be issued due to his political influence.
