Islamabad closes offices ahead of US–Iran Talks security alert

ISLAMABAD: It has been decided to close all offices in the national capital due to the expected second round of US-Iran talks.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, security has been put on high alert in the red zone of Islamabad, while all ministries, divisions and federal offices will remain closed tomorrow.

According to the notification, work-from-home orders have been issued to all federal officers and staff.

On the other hand, a notification issued by the Registrar Office of the Supreme Court stated that the Supreme Court will remain partially functional tomorrow, and it has been decided to reduce the judicial staff on the orders of the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

According to the notification, only certain staff of the Supreme Court will perform duties in the court tomorrow, other officers and officials will work from home tomorrow, while staff working from home will be in touch with their supervisors on telephone.

It was further said that no negative order will be issued against any party or lawyer who does not appear in court, and the branch registries of the Supreme Court in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta will remain open.

The notification issued by the Registrar’s Office has been sent to all concerned institutions.

The Federal Constitutional Court announced the suspension of court work yesterday and cancelled the cause list of April 22. Due to the closure of the Red Zone, there will be no court proceedings in Islamabad.

Court staff have been instructed to work from home, branch registries will remain open as usual.
