ISLAMABAD: Despite 8 days of posting of IG Police Islamabad, the federal capital is without a police chief.
On March 29, the Establishment Division appointed DIG Operations Lahore and Syed Nasir Ali Rizvi, a grade 20 officer of the Police Service, as IG Police Islamabad.
Former IG Police Chief Akbar Nasir Khan, who was transferred on March 30, left the charge. Syed Nasir Ali Rizvi has not yet joined duty as he has not been relieved by the Punjab government.
Meanwhile, it was also suggested that the new panel should be sent to the cabinet, but the federal government has not taken any decision yet. No DIG has been given temporary charge of the capital IGP.
A tussle has begun between the Center and the Punjab government over the release of two government officers to take up duties assigned by the federal government.
According to a private news channel, the provincial government has urged the federal government to consult with any government official before transferring them.
