Islamabad, Rawalpindi traffic plan announced for today

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police have imposed smart traffic restrictions, with some major arteries to be shut down or diverted in the federal capital on account of the arrival of visiting delegations.

Heavy traffic in any direction and origin will be entirely banned from travelling within the federal capital, the city traffic police shared.

The entry to the Red Zone, except Margala and Marriott, will be completely banned for all types of traffic. Commuters wishing to travel from Koral to Faizabad can avail diversionary routes via the Expressway, Murree, and Club Road.

Srinagar highway will remain closed from Dhokari Chowk to the Zero Point. The people of Islamabad are advised to apply the smart plan if the major roads are shut down.

They can take the detour through 9th Avenue if their routes from Faisal Avenue to Zero Point are blocked. Should the Zero Point to Koral Chowk be closed, they can reach the Srinagar Highway via 9th Avenue and also Stadium Road and Rawal Road via Chandni Chowk to Murree Road via Koral.

It is advised that those in the Koral to Club Road closure would travel to Taramari Chowk. Whereas Bhara Kahu visitors traveling to Rawalpindi are advised to travel to Korang Road, Bani Gala, and Lehtrar Road. The city dwellers coming from Rawalpindi Saddarto the federal capital may travel on any of the following avenues – via 9th Avenue, via KarnalSherkhan Road to Faqirapi Road.

Those who are travelling from Peshawar to Lahore will be advised to take the route through the Motorway via Taxila to Chakri Interchange, to Chak Belley Road until they reach Rawat GT road. Similarly, those planning to travel from GT road Lahore to Peshawar will travel from GT road Rawat till Chak Belley Road, following it to Chak Interchange and onward on the Motorway till Taxila.
