Judicial Commission confirms permanent CJs for IHC, PHC, BHC & SHC

ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission has approved the names of new Chief Justices for the Islamabad, Peshawar, Sindh, and Balochistan High Courts on Tuesday.

Chairman Judicial Commission, Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, presided over the meeting in which the names of the three most senior judges of each High Court were considered for the appointment of permanent Chief Justices of Sindh, Balochistan, Peshawar, and Islamabad High Courts.

The name of Justice Sarfaraz Dogar has been approved for the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court by the Judicial Commission.

By a majority of 16 to 9, the JCP accepted Justice Sarfaraz Dogar’s appointment as the IHC CJ.

The Judicial Commission has approved the name of Justice Atiq Shah for the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court.

Justice Junaid Ghaffar and Justice Rozi Khan Barich were selected as the Chief Justices for the Sindh and Balochistan High Courts, respectively.

SC judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah opposed the meeting, stating that the court should first decide on the 26th constitutional amendment. Justice Mansoor and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa law minister, two JCP members of the PTI, also supported Justice Mansoor’s position.
