ISLAMABAD: Senior Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah’s letter has surfaced on the issue of expansion of the Constitutional Bench.

This letter was written by Justice Mansoor before the June 19 meeting in which he opposed the expansion of the Constitutional Bench, while his letter was conveyed to the Judicial Commission members.

The letter states that the extension should not be extended until the decision in the 26th Amendment case has been made.

Moreover, it was informed in advance that I was not available in Pakistan for the June 19 meeting; it was expected that the meeting would be postponed due to unavailability, because in the past, the meeting had been postponed due to the absence of the executive members.

But in this case, the judiciary members are in the minority, so they may not have been able to postpone it.

The letter further states that the extension before the 26th Amendment decision will deepen this crisis, as this controversy is destroying the reputation of the institution and public trust in it.

According to the letter, all judges should be declared constitutional benchers until the 26th Amendment is decided, and the criteria for inclusion in the constitutional bench should also be determined.
