Two more Congo virus cases reported in KPK

PESHAWAR: Two more cases of Congo virus have been reported from the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province, Peshawar, on Friday, according to media reports.

According to the KPK Health Department, 2 cases of Congo virus were reported yesterday, after which the number of patients infected with Congo virus in the province has reached 9.

Three people have died so far due to the Congo virus, 2 of whom were from Karak and North Waziristan, KPK Health Department said.

At least three more patients of Congo virus are under treatment at Hayatabad Medical Complex.

Notably, a few days ago, 2 patients of Congo virus were admitted to Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar. The patients belonged to the Karak district.

The hospital administration had said that the Congo virus patients have been isolated.

Earlier, the First case of Congo of the year has been reported in Karachi, as a 42-year-old man in Karachi passed away after being diagnosed a day earlier, according to a statement from the provincial health ministry’s coordinator, Meeran Yousaf.

The deceased was admitted to Indus Hospital in Korangi, where he tested positive for CCHF on June 16, but later died. A team of health experts visited his residence but found the door locked.

Speaking to a media outlet, Yousuf said, “The team assumed that the family took away the body for burial at their native place somewhere.”
