Justice Munib Akhtar to take oath as acting CJP tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court’s second most senior judge, Justice Munib Akhtar will take oath as acting Chief Justice of Pakistan on May 18.

Justice Munib Akhtar will discharge his duties as the acting CJP as Chief Justice Justice Qazi Faez Isa will visit abroad and the senior-most judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah is already on an international trip.

According to the Supreme Court, “Owing to the visit abroad of Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Munib Akhtar, Judge, Supreme Court of Pakistan will take oath as Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan on May 18, 2024 (Saturday) at 10:30 am.”

The swearing-in ceremony will take place on the 2nd Floor of the Supreme Court Judges’ Block in the Committee Room at 10:30 AM. Justice Yahya Afridi will administer the oath to Acting Chief Justice Muneeb Akhtar.

All Senior Advocates and Supreme Court judges will attend the ceremony.  Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa will depart for an international trip on Friday.
