KARACHI: In a recent progress of Sarim murder case, the Karachi police have recreated the crime scene in the sexual assault and murder case of Sarim who was found dead in a water tank 11 days after he went missing.

The reconstruction of the crime scene was planned to get the answers to such questions as who smelled the body first and how the body was taken out from the tank.

The police re-enacted the entire chain of events on January 7, when Sarim was reported missing, up till January 18, when his body was discovered, to piece together what really happened.

Important testimonies were taken during this re-evaluation, and the valve-mender and the relatives of Sarim appeared with a number of witnesses. Police officials told the media that at this stage, the investigation depends entirely on DNA and forensic reports leading to the unraveling of the case.

Earlier, Sarim’s parents held a protest sit-in in North Karachi on the main road in a demand for justice for their son’s murder. Sarim’s corpse was discovered inside an underground water storage tank, and the post-mortem report confirmed he was allegedly tortured and sexually abused.

The parents of Sarim charged the killer had to be arrested soon without wasting time and that they were looking for the police to give them justice. They told the media that so far nothing had been done in the case, and the investigation had been transferred to Bilal Colony police station.

Sarim’s parents said they would continue their protest until justice is served, adding that they were even asked for money so the police would be able to use tracker dogs to trail Sarim. Justice for the family means actual tangible proof that would act as a conviction against the involved culprits.
