Karachi hazardous traffic costs three more lives

KARACHI: Three motorcyclists lost their lives in different road accidents in Karachi late Thursday night, showcasing the miserable condition of the city’s traffic safety.

Abdul Saboor, a 25-year-old boy, succumbed to injuries after colliding with a speeding cement mixer truck in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Angered by the accident, an infuriated mob set the truck on fire, while the truck driver was arrested by the police.

Another motorcyclist, identified as Haider Qureshi, was hit by a truck in Liaquatabad No. 10. The deceased was returning home from work when the accident occurred.

While near Kemari Gate No. 1, a speedy car crashed into a bike, claiming another life.

Karachi has witnessed at least 207 on-record deaths due to traffic accidents with 2623 people sustaining injuries in the year 2025. 64 deaths were caused due to heavy transport including 16 by dumpers, 22 by trailer truck, 22 by trailer truck, 12 by water tankers, and 13 by passenger bases.

Deadly crashes continue on the city’s roads despite claims by the traffic police and city administration of measures to curb accidents.
